Guide to Living in Ashland, Nebraska

Ashland is about twenty to thirty minutes southwest of Omaha alongside Highway 6. It’s also accessible via Interstate 80 and Highway 66.

Demographics

Ashland has around 2,500 people living within city limits. The median age in Ashland is just over 40 years old. However, 25% of the population is under the age of 18. 

What’s Considered Ashland?

Ashland is a city in Saunders County. It runs along Highway 6 and is in between the two forks of the Salt Creek with some overlap. The majority of the city is between Ashland Road and Cooper Road.

Navigating Ashland

Highway 6 and Highway 66 (14th Street) are the primary roads when it comes to navigating business districts. However, almost every road goes all the way through Ashland. It is designed to be a grid format. Furnas Street and Silver Street are two of the main roads that run north and south. 

Hospitals Nearby

CHI Health St. Elizabeth is located 23.2 miles away in Lincoln. This is a 32-minute drive. There is also a CHI health clinic in La Vista, NE that is 20.6 miles away. It is only a 25-minute drive.

Schools

Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools has an elementary school and a combined junior and senior high school. Greenwood is a town located south of Ashland. Ashland-Greenwood is a Class C1 school.

Parks & Recreation

There are multiple parks in Ashland, including Wiggenhorn Memorial Park, Jack Anderson Ball Park, Gold Disk Golf Course, Ashland Dog Park, and the Iron Horse Golf Club.

Entertainment

There are several restaurants off Highway 6 and Highway 66 in Ashland. Even though Ashland is a small town, there are several things to do in town. You also have easy access to not only Omaha but Lincoln through Highway 6 and Interstate 80.

Ashland is also home to the Wildlife Safari Park, Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum, and Mahoney State Park.
