As a thriving, bustling town, Omaha is filled with exciting activities throughout the year. From yoga in the park to musicals and comedy shows in the theater, Omaha has dozens of opportunities for unforgettable experiences for both long-time residents and first-time visitors.
Whether you want to go exploring with your kids or experience a raucous concert with friends, there’s an event for you this month! Here is our list of 50+ things to do around Omaha in April:

Easter Brunch at Lauritzen Gardens – April 4th and 5th
Easter Brunch at Lauritzen Gardens has become an annual tradition for many area families. Reservations include a brunch buffet in the visitor and education center, plus admission to the garden and Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: Save the Humans.
Tickets are $59 for ages 13+, $44 for ages 3 to 12, and free for children 2 and under. Members, and those covered under their membership category, receive a $10 discount per ticket.
Reservations are required. All reservations will be completed online and will open on Monday, February 23, 2026. Payment is due at the time of booking and reservations are non-refundable.
Spring EGGstravaganza at Lauritzen Gardens – April 4th
A fun-filled day of family-friendly activities, eco-friendly egg hunts, crafts, and prizes at Lauritzen Gardens’ Spring EGGstravaganza!
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Event is included with admission.
Joslyn Castle Public Tours – Every Sunday, Monday, and Thursday
The public tour includes a 14 minute video, and an hour long walking tour of the three levels of the Castle. Tours are held at 12:30pm with no advance ticket purchases or reservations required.
Tickets are $20.00 for adults, and $17.00 for students, seniors, or military with ID. Children 5 and under are free. The front door of the Castle opens 15 minutes before tour start time.
An elevator is available for guests with mobility issues.
In addition to the castle tours, the gorgeous gardens (which feature seasonal floral displays and other beautiful features) are open to the public during business hours. So whether you’re planning a tour in advance or just happen to be in the neighborhood, you can pop over and wander the grounds at your leisure.
Evening Yoga at Gene Leahy Mall- April 22 & 29
As part of the revamped Gene Leahy Mall, the RiverFront offers multiple recurring classes throughout the year. One of these regular events is an hourlong yoga session that starts at 6:00 pm and takes place on the lovely Downtown Green.
There, Omaha’s Lotus House of Yoga offers a free session of vinyasa yoga, complete with music. The class is meant to be suitable for yoga beginners, experts, and everyone in between. Bring a mat, towel or blanket and a water bottle to the Downtown Green!
Backline Open Mic – Every Wednesday
Wednesdays are the night to have your funny bone tickled. At 7:30 pm, the Backline Comedy Theatre hosts an open mic night that gives comedians of all stripes a mere four minutes to leave the expectant crowd in stitches. And the best part? This uproarious event is free! Doors open at 7pm!
Bloody Mary Tour on Ollie the Trolley – Every Saturday
A lot of the upcoming events in Omaha are all-ages and kid-friendly. Sometimes, though, you want to get out with your friends and have a blast with grown-ups. Instead of a party bus escapade, why not try out Omaha’s famous Ollie the Trolley?
Their Saturday morning Bloody Mary Tour gives you the chance to enjoy a marvelous brunch, delicious Bloody Mary drinks, and a three-hour (10:30 am – 1:30 pm), adults-only rolling tour throughout Omaha. What’s not to love?
The Art of Disney Costume – Opening: May 30th
The Durham Museum is a must-see locale for any visitor to Omaha. From the grandeur of the historic Union Station to the intrigue of the individual exhibits, the Durham is a cherished piece of Omaha history. The museum is open during the following hours:
- Sunday: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
- Tuesdays – Saturdays: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Closed on Mondays
In April 2026, the Durham is featuring the Art of Disney Costume. The exhibition includes pieces worn by Bette Davis, Glenn Close, and Angelina Jolie, as well as designs from Academy® Award- and Emmy® Award-winning and -nominated productions.
Featuring 70 costumes of some beloved characters such as Cinderella, Maleficent and Captain Jack Sparrow, this blockbuster showcase highlights the innovative ways Disney’s iconic characters are brought to life through the artistry and imagination of their costumes.
Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: Save the Humans– All month
Step into a realm of imagination and come meet the colossal creations of Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: Save the Humans in the Lauritzen Gardens .
Crafted from reclaimed wood and a whole lot of creativity, these gentle giants bring big personalities and even bigger messages about protecting the environment. As you wander the outdoor garden paths, keep an eye out for all six of these towering troll ambassadors and uncover each of their stories as they touch on themes of recycling, sustainability, and preserving nature.
Nebraska SciFest Public Expo– April 18th
Join Nebraska Science Festival Expo in The Durham Museum for fun and engaging hands-on learning opportunities for all! Explore a variety of booths from regional organizations that promote science and its impact of daily life.
The event is free with a SciFest coupon, found online at nescifest.com after March 1. Advanced registration through Nebraska SciFest is required.
Once Upon A Carnival – April 17th – April 19th
Come enjoy the last weekend of “Once Upon a Carnival” exhibit in the Omaha Children’s Museum.
The mission of Once Upon a Carnival is to make learning to read an over-the-top, high-flying, fun-filled experience. Featuring a cast of well-loved story book characters, this carnival themed exhibit will help visitors experience the wonder of words by combining the mechanics and the magic of reading.
Science Sunday with Nebraska SciFest at Gene Leahy Mall- April 12th, 19th, 26th
From 1pm to 2pm join the Nebraska Science Festival for Science Sunday at The RiverFront. This is a free family friendly hour for you to learn about nature, animals, medicine and more with hands-on science activities (while supplies last).
Sunset Hike at the Fontenelle Forest– April 24th
After the hustle of a busy workweek, why not take a load off with a peaceful hike through Fontenelle Forest at sunset? They will explore the gravel and dirt trails near the Nature Center, then head out to the third loop of the Boardwalk to watch the sunset over the Missouri River.
Time: 7:30 PM – 9:00PM. This program is $10 for members and $25 for non-members (price includes daily admission). Pre-registration is required. Members must sign in to receive discount.
Go to a Play at Tenaska Center – All month
At Tenaska Center in April you will be able to experience the timeless childhood tale “The Cat in the Hat” like you’ve never seen it before — live on stage! Stretch your imagination muscles with the Cat in the Hat, and be prepared for a good time for both kids and adults! Expect laughs, surprises, and just a bit of delightful disorder!

Journey to the Amazon Ballet at The Holland Performing Arts Center – April 26th
Experience the magic of the Amazon Rainforest through music and dance in this unforgettable collaboration between the Omaha Symphony and the Heartland Youth Ballet. Featuring a never-before-heard orchestral score by composer Matt Naughtin, this performance invites you to explore the lush beauty and captivating mystery of one of the world’s most diverse ecosystems.
Journey up the majestic kapok tree and meet an array of vibrant rainforest creatures — ocelots, snakes, frogs, monkeys, birds, insects, and bats — brought to life through stunning choreography and evocative music. Perfect for all ages, this unique experience celebrates the wonders of nature and the artistry of music and dance.
An ASL interpreter will be present at this performance.
Guardians of the Giggle- Evrey First Friday
This event at the Blackstone Theater brings family-friendly improv comedy to Omaha! “Guardians of the Giggle” promises an unscripted comedy show packed with fast-paced, short-form improv games and audience interaction. Perfect for a family night out or an evening of fun with friends, each show is a unique experience you won’t want to miss!
Union Omaha Soccer Game – April 11th
The Union Omaha Soccer Club will play against Forward Madison at Morrison Stadium at 4 pm!
Do Not Stop Half Marathon (5k/10k) – April 11th
Want to test your physical limits while giving back to your community? This spring race is the perfect chance to challenge yourself, enjoy creative swag, and be part of an encouraging, affordable, and inclusive community.
Race Day Schedule
6:30-7:45 am: Packet Pickup
7:55 am: Kids Dash (Meet at the Start Line and we will walk participants out to the starting area)
8:00 am: National Anthem and Race Start!

Let’s Groove Tonight: Motown & the Philly Sound – April 11th & 12th
Head to the Holland Center to hear the Omaha Symphony. Maestro Ernest Richardson leads the Omaha Symphony in bringing magic Motown melodies to life featuring vocal powerhouses for an incredible evening full of classic hits made famous by The Spinners, The Stylistics, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, and Percy Sledge.

Intersections Exhibition at Hot Shops Art Center – April 1st – 26th
The Hot Shops Art Center is a unique artist collective that brings together four studios representing a variety of artistic disciplines: glasswork, metalwork, ceramics, and ironwork. Creighton University Kappa Pi Art Honors Society group exhibition Intersections explores the interaction of mixed media and the overlap of art and topics thought to be dissimilar. This interdisciplinary exhibition showcases the wide range of applications and relationships that art has to offer. Opening reception Friday, April 10.
