Every month, Omaha hosts annual events, and these events represent our city’s culture, camaraderie, and community. No matter what annual event you choose to attend, it’ll surely become a yearly tradition for you and your family! Here’s what goes on in September around Omaha.

Omaha Farmers Markets – All Month

All around Omaha, farmers markets pop up weekly to bring support to local gardeners, farmers, crafters, and vendors! These markets are pet- and family-friendly and are a great way to get outdoors. You can purchase locally grown produce while shopping for handmade goods from some of Omaha’s most talented makers. 

A few big farmers markets include the Omaha Farmers Market that’s at both Aksarben and the Old Market weekly. Night Market in Midtown Crossing is also a traditional one.

Pumpkin Patches and Apple Orchards – All Month

September marks the start of fall and the opening of pumpkin patches and apple orchards! These facilities are fun for the whole family. You can pick out fall produce, enjoy fun attractions, and indulge in classic fall treats. (Pumpkin spice and apple cider, anyone?)

BrewHaHa- September 5th

The 19th Annual Brew Haha is your chance to sip, savor and support Habitat for Humanity of Omaha! Sample 80 top-notch breweries and local eateries. Every dollar raised helps build strength, stability and self-reliance for families in our five-county service area. Cheers to making a difference!

Opera Outdoors – September 5th

Opera Omaha’s annual kick-off to the season returns. Spread your picnic blanket, kick off your shoes, and relax as the songs of birds and opera intertwine. This FREE, family-friendly concert, which has become a community favorite, is held at Midtown Crossing’s Turner Park and includes some of opera’s greatest hits.

Cowtown Jamborama – September 5th – 7th

Are you a swing dancing pro? Or, maybe you’ve always wanted to learn. Either way, the Jitterbug’s Cowtown Jamborama has you covered. This event celebrates the history and art of swing dancing through workshops, live music, dance parties, and more! Professional dance instructors are traveling in to teach how to dance or refine your current skills. Come learn to swing or show off your moves. 

Rockbrook Village Art Fair – September 6th, 7th

The Rockbrook Village Art Fair has been booming for over half a century! The event provides a platform for local and regional artists to showcase and sell their work. The art fair hosts 120 artists from around the country and attracts over 40,000 visitors from across the Midwest. The fair strives to celebrate creativity through a variety of mediums and activities, delighting both exhibitors and attendees.

Fields of Flight – September 7th

At Ditmar’s Orchard & Vineyard in Council Bluffs, you can see dozens of hot air balloons take flight! While seeing the balloons up-close and watching them as they drift away, you can listen to live music, browse local vendors, and grab a bite at the food trucks. If you’ve never seen hot air balloons in all their glory, you won’t want to miss this!

All-European Show and Shine – September 7th

Lauritzen Gardens has over 100 acres of flower and plant displays that are extraordinary sights as-is! But, once a year they host the All-European Show and Shine car show. There, you can see incredible European vehicles from companies like Jaguar, Ducati, and Ferrari. See both organic and manufactured beauties at this unique event! 

Harvest Party at Mulhall’s – September 10th 

Enjoy delicious BBQ from 402 BBQ, sip on fresh brews from Cedar Creek Coffee and Art, and soak in live tunes by Daniel and the Deliverance – all part of the perfect fall celebration.

Bring the whole family for free fun, including mini pumpkin painting, honey tasting with Fathead Honey Farms, and exploring our straw maze — perfect for all ages!

Stop by our Nursery Yard to shop our Fall Plant Sale and talk with our team of experts.

Be sure to bring in your extra harvest to share with our community too! In collaboration with Whispering Roots, we’re accepting donations of fresh produce from the garden, which will be turned into delicious and nutritious meals served at local shelters – or shared directly with dozens of underserved communities in our city. It’s all part of our Plant to Give initiative.

Chalk Art Festival – September 11th 

Farnam Street at Midtown Crossing will become a canvas for incredible chalk art on September 11th! You can stroll through the masterpieces and browse local shops and eateries. It’s a total blast and an art form that all ages can appreciate! 

Omaha Restaurant Week – September 12th – 21st

Omaha is known for legendary beef – steak, burgers, and the Reuben sandwich, to name a few fan favorites. But the city is growing into a top destination for culinary-curious diners. During Omaha’s 10 Tastiest Days of the year, enjoy three-course dinners priced at $20, $30, $40 or $50 per person at some of the Omaha area’s best restaurants.

While out enjoying your meal, know you’re dining out for a cause during Hunger Action Month – a portion of Restaurant Week proceeds benefits Food Bank for the Heartland.

One Community Cultural Festival – September 12th & 13th

There are lots of cultural festivals around Omaha throughout the year that are dedicated to one nationality, but the One Community Cultural Festival celebrates ALL of Omaha’s diverse heritages. The goal is to create understanding, appreciation, and acceptance of other cultures while enjoying dance, song, food, and shopping! This event truly represents the unity of Omaha culture. 

Race for Big Dreams – September 13th

Stinson Park is another beautiful place for a 5k, and you can seize the opportunity to run there on September 13th. Founded in 2022 in partnership with Lisa and Lonny Sund in memory of their son and former CRCC student JJ, the Race for Big Dreams includes an untimed 5K and a half-mile fun walk, open to participants of all ages and abilities. A highlight of the event is the Lap of Champions, when the kids take center stage—cheered on in a moment of joy, unity, and celebration.

For 35 years, Connected Roots Care Center (CRCC) has supported Omaha-area children—whether typically developing or those with complex medical or developmental needs—and their families.

Walk the Park for Parkinson’s Nebraska – September 14th

Elmwood Park has a gorgeous half-mile paved loop perfect for an afternoon stroll and a perfect track. So, whether you want to go for a walk, or just let the kids play in the green space, this event is for you. The event will provide education, resources, and support to those dealing with Parkinson’s disease. The event includes breakfast, T-shirt, and community vendors. Fun for the entire family! Nebraska Bridal & Wedding Expo – September 14th

At the #1 bridal & wedding services expo, you’ll find everything you need to have the perfect wedding day! Whether you envision a formal black-tie affair or a casual barefoot ceremony on the beach, our carefully selected experts are ready to offer advice in creating timeless memories for your perfect wedding.

Sharp Race Towards Brain Aneurysm Awareness – September 17th

This fun run/walk is for brain aneurysm awareness. They’ll provide education and raise money to support research to prevent this scary condition. In addition to the run, there will be family-friendly activities, raffles, and a silent auction. Come run for a cure! 

Couples Night on the Lake – September 18th

Get ready to make some new memories at Zorinsky Lake! Couples will canoe around the lake, enjoy a light romantic picnic, and take a stroll along the trail or just enjoy the sunset.
Registration begins August 11th. Spots are limited!

German Day + Oktoberfest – September 19th & 20th

This 2-day event celebrating German culture has been going on for nearly 140 years! It includes live music, kids’ activities, German foods, cultural dance and singing performances, and, of course, beer! Come dance to polka music, eat bratwurst, drink beer, and celebrate the rich heritage of Omaha’s German community. 

Omaha’s Rodeo – September 19th & 20th

The CHI Health Center is hosting their annual rodeo! Steer wrestling, team roping, and bull riding will keep this action-packed event moving. There will also be music, concessions, and an award ceremony for announcer of the year, clown of the year, and sound man of the year. It’s a great way to experience classic Midwestern entertainment and make lasting memories. 

Omaha Comedy Fest – September 25th – 28th

maha Comedy Fest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization offering Omaha comedy fans unparalleled access to intimate shows and hilarious experiences with established and emerging comedians from across the country. Founded in 2013 by Dylan Rohde and now powered by an all-volunteer team of passionate comedians, this grassroots festival continues to prove that exceptional comedy can happen anywhere.

Each September, more than 50 handpicked performers take the stage across four days of non-stop laughs. Educational panels and workshops covering everything from finding your comedic voice and navigating the business side of comedy to podcasting and online content creation offer hands-on guidance for aspiring comedians and behind-the-scenes insights for comedy fans.

Lauritzen Gardens Antiques & Design Show – September 25th – 28th 

Lauritzen Gardens host so many unique events! This month, they have their annual antique show. This high-end antique show experience is four days long. There are upscale meals and drinks, informative speakers, and dozens of exhibitors. Whether you’re wanting to buy furniture, art, decor, jewelry, fashion, or oddities, the Lauritzen Gardens Antique Show will definitely deliver!

Omaha Marathon – September 28th 

The 2025 Omaha Marathon event series will feature a full marathon, half marathon and 5K. Courses will highlight the best of downtown Omaha. Whether you’re aiming for a personal best or looking for a fun race-day experience, there’s something for everyone. Mark your calendar and be part of the excitement next Fall!

Our Lady of Lourdes Fall Festival – September 28th 

Our Lady of Lourdes & Saint Adalbert Catholic church hosts an annual fall festival that celebrates the changing of the seasons. The event has carnival games, a beer garden, prizes, bounce houses, fair confections, face painting, playground activities, raffles, and a silent auction. It’s a fun way to spend time with the whole family. 

September is full of memorable events to celebrate culture, community, and the transition into fall!
