No matter the month, Omaha is full of exciting annual activities. These events represent the values, history, and camaraderie of our tight-knit city. There’s plenty to do! Here are things to do around Omaha in August.
Farmers Markets – All Summer Long
There are dozens of farmers markets all around Omaha that normally run from May – October. Each one has its own personality and unique atmosphere for a totally memorable afternoon. You can buy homegrown produce, support local vendors, or grab food from one of Omaha’s unforgettable food trucks!
The biggest farmers market is the Omaha Farmers Markets (Old Market and Aksarben Village). No matter where you live around Omaha, though, you’re probably not far from one of the local markets!
Learning Express – All month
Learning Express Toys at The Regency Shopping Center is kicking off the month with FREE fun for all ages—no tickets, no fees, just good vibes and great activities!
This year, they’re celebrating Back to School with awesome events like our ISPY Sensory Bin (Aug 5), DIY Pencil Pouch Patch Bar (Aug 8), and Back to School Slime (Aug 11)!
Plus, they’ve got fan favorites returning like Lego Club, Pokémon Trading Nights, Storytimes, Crafts, and so much more!

MudBlast for CP – August 2nd
2025 will be the 13th Annual MudBlast for CP! MudBlast is an annual charity mud volleyball tournament that raises money for cerebral palsy research. The event also celebrates the life of Bradley Walde, an Omaha child who passed away in 2012 from CP. Along with the tournament, there is drinking, relay races, and sandcastle competitions! All of this is hosted at Papillion’s Sinnott’s Sand Bar, which is a one-of-a-kind mud volleyball bar.
Miss Omaha and Miss Douglas County Beauty Competition – August 2nd
The 2025 Miss Omaha & Miss Douglas County Scholarship Competition will take place on August 2nd, at Marian High School. Four young women will win the titles of Miss Omaha & Miss Douglas County and Miss Omaha’s Teen & Miss Douglas County’s Teen! These young women will be awarded a generous prize package, and thousands of dollars in scholarships and will advance to compete for the title of Miss Nebraska the following June! Our new titleholders will receive customized preparation from our dedicated board of volunteers as they prepare for the state competition. The new Miss Nebraska will advance to compete at the Miss America competition for the opportunity of a lifetime!
Sts. Peter & Paul Annual Church Festival – August 3rd
For over a century Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Omaha has hosted “The Greatest Festival in Town.” They pride themselves on being Omaha’s largest and longest running church festival. In all the years they’ve been open, 2020 was the only year they missed!
The event has live music all day long, beer, ethnic food, big prizes, kids’ activities, games, and carnival rides! Let your kids take part in a classic cake walk or grab yourself lunch at one of the food trucks. Whatever you do, your whole family will have a blast at this age old festival.
In The Market for Blues – August 8th – 9th
Omaha is known for its fantastic live music scene. From local musicians to big names, Omaha is always full of unforgettable performances. The “In the Market for Blues” event is Omaha’s blues festival, and it’s in the city’s historic downtown district.
In The Market For Blues features over 30 bands at 10 venues for 12+ hours of entertainment on Saturday, August 9, 2025! VIPs get a special pre-event concert on Friday, August 8!
There are over 40 bands and artists performing in both indoor and outdoor venues around the Old Market. This year, headliner is John Németh and the Blue Dreamers. John was the proud recipient of the 2024 Blues Music Award for Soul Blues Male Artist at the ceremony held May 9 in Memphis. His band, the Blue Dreamers, is full of young gun talent.
Fringe Festival – August 7th – 10th
The legendary tradition of fringe festivals is celebrated here in Omaha with our very own Fringe Festival! Here, you can see self-produced, self-funded, and performance-based plays with local playwrights, actors, and directors. It’s a free space for artists in the community to appreciate local theater, but it also provides an opportunity to showcase your big theater dreams! (Even if Broadways isn’t in the cards).
Each year, they select a few submitted plays at random. Then, they get to work preparing for the festival. They put on 10-12 different plays during the festival. It’s hosted at the University of Nebraska Omaha on their performance stages!
Handmade Parade Open Workshop – August 7th – 28th

Drop in and help bring the Handmade Parade to life! These open workshops, hosted by Giant Joy Collective, are a chance to learn the basics of giant puppet-making and collaborate on shared parade pieces, or start one of your own.
We’ll have some core materials available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies, works-in-progress, or wild ideas. This is a collaborative, hands-on space focused on building, painting, sketching, and experimenting. All ages and skill levels welcome!
Dates: August 7th, 9th, 14th, 21st, 23rd, 28th
Valley Days: End of Summer Celebration – August 8th, 9th, and 10th
Valley is a small community just outside of Omaha, and its annual community wide celebration is in August! It’s a 3-day event that includes a street dance, a citywide BBQ, a fun run, a parade, a car show, a craft and vendor show, a tractor pull, live music, and so much more! It’s a great way to spend your weekend soaking up the sun and making lasting family memories.
Blackstone Open – August 9th
Get ready for a “hole” lot of fun at the 2025 Blackstone Open — a mini golf bar crawl through the Blackstone District benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities in Omaha!
Teams of four will putt their way through creative, themed holes set up at local bars and restaurants, all while dressed in their best costumes or golf attire (yes, there’s a prize for best dressed!). After the course, we’ll wrap up with an awards ceremony and after-party at Blackstone Social.
Whether you’re in it to win it or just want a great excuse to dress up and have fun for a good cause, this event is not to be missed!

The Pinnacle Bank Championship – August 8th-14th
If you like golf, the Pinnacle Bank Championship is a stop along the Korn Ferry PGA Tour! You can watch pro golf all week long. And, when the tournament closes each night on the 11th – 13th, country music stars will take stage to entertain guests and golfers. It’s a two-for-one that’s sure to please.
Industrial Bar & Grill 2025 Annual Jeep Run – August 9th
Do you have a Jeep? If you do, you know all about the exclusive Jeep community. This beer run is all for you! You’ll make stops in Gretna, Springfield, and Yutan while wearing your Jeep Run t-shirt, sporting your Jeep Run koozie, and rocking your Jeep Run decal right there on the driver’s door. It’s a great time for comradery and community!
Save the date, and get signed up for the Industrial Bar & Grill 2025 Annual Jeep run on Saturday, August 9th! $50 per Jeep gets you your entry fee, a T-Shirt, (if signed up and paid by Monday, July 21st) a Koozie, a Duck for prizes, and 2 food tickets.
Open Omaha – August 9th
When you drive around Omaha and the neighboring cities, you’re taken aback by the beauty of the cities’ architecture and design. Whether historic or ultra-modern, there are structures that stand as true pieces of art shaping the Omaha skyline. But, what’s inside these establishments of architectural artistry? Well, Open Omaha gives you the chance to see the beauty that lies within!
For one weekend a year, Omaha by Design takes Omahans on a tour around the metro, showcasing the hidden architecture and design mastery within the walls of our magnificent buildings and historic landmarks.
Summer Beanfest – August 9th
Each year Infusion Brewing Co and The Pie Whole host Bean Fest! There will be pie, of course, and Infusion’s legendary Vanilla Bean Blonde beer. Beyond that, there’s live music, local vendors, food trucks, games, more beer, and more pie. AND, it’s totally family and dog friendly. It’s gonna be a good time!
Jazz on the Green – August 14th
Each summer, Omaha Performing Arts hosts “Jazz on the Green” at Turner Park in Midtown Crossing. It’s every Thursday from July 10th to August 14th, and it’s totally free! Each week there’s live music and local vendors in a beautiful outdoor atmosphere. Grab lawn chairs and bring your friends, family, and fur babies to Jazz on the Green this summer!
Arrows to Aerospace – August 14th – 16th
The year 2025 marks the 37th year that the Bellevue-Offutt Kiwanis Club will be the proud sponsor of Arrows to Aerospace, Bellevue’s premier community celebration. It will kick off with a presentation at the Bellevue Public Library on Thursday, August 14. On Friday, August 15, we will provide a free meal at the Senior Center.
Besides featuring a parade on Saturday, August 16, Washington Park will be the site of a pancake feed, a foam party, bounce houses, music, and a variety of both non-profit and retail vendors. See the full 2025 schedule for a draft schedule of events.
The parade begins at Mission Ave. and Bert Murphy, continues east on Mission, then north on Franklin, ending at Washington Park. If you’re interested in participating in the parade, please complete the entry form and mail it to the address on the form.
Heartland Family Service Safe Haven Golf Tournament- August 15th
Looking for a golf experience that’s well above par while playing for an important cause? Come join them for the 32nd annual Safe Haven Golf Tournament at Eagle Hills Golf Course in Papillion (Eagle Hills Golf Course).
The money raised from this event will go toward our Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault services, including Safe Haven, a concealed emergency shelter to protect women, men, and children from violence.
Playing with Fire – August 15th – 16th
If you’re looking to enjoy some more live music this summer, check out Omaha’s free blues concert series, “Playing with Fire.” It’s hosted twice a summer, once in July and once in August! Local, national, and international bands travel to SlowDown (729 North 14th Street) to play. Free admission until venue reaches capacity.
Nebraska Balloon and Wine Festival – August 15th – 16th
The Nebraska Balloon and Wine Festival allows attendees to see hot air balloons up-close while tasting award-winning wines and enjoying the night air. The balloons will launch around 7:00 pm and light up for a breathtaking scene just after dark.
At this event you’ll also see skydivers, paramotor gliders, and more outdoor fun. Food, crafts, a vendor village, live music, and a dedicated KidZone along with the amazing balloon experience, makes this a favorite event in the Omaha metro!
Petfest – August 16th
From punk to pop to experimental noise, PETFEST features the region’s most talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stopping, spectacular, never-the-same, totally unique, completely-not-ever-been-done-before music you’ll ever experience at a one-day festival.
Presented by BFF Omaha — Every ticket sold directly supports year-round arts programming, emerging artists, and creative opportunities in the Benson Creative District.
The event is at the Petshop in Benson, which is an artist collaboration space that holds many independent art events. Spend the evening at Petfest partying hard and exploring Benson’s youthful and creative community.
Millard Days – August 19th – 24th
The Millard annual celebration is at the end of August—the perfect time for an end of summer bash! The entire nearly week-long event takes place in Andersen Park, and there are a ton of things to do. They have a carnival, a parade, a beer garden, kids’ activities, and live music. And, of course, they have great fair food and drinks. Make one more summer memory before the season is over with Millard Days!
Dundee Day – August 20th
Dundee Day began in the 1950’s as a sidewalk sale and became an official day of events in 1992. Over the years, the event has included a ‘prettiest baby’ contest, appearances by local artists such as cartoonist Jeffrey Koterba, and the celebrated relocation of the Dundee Dell from Dodge Street to Underwood Avenue. Today, presented by Dundee Bank and Dundee Pediatrics, this family-friendly street festival celebrates and highlights the Dundee neighborhood with a parade, 5k run, art and craft vendors, book sale, pancake breakfast, food trucks, live music, live art drawing, and beer garden.
Omaha Business Hall of Fame – August 20th
Local businesses are the backbone of our community. The Greater Omaha Chamber honors incredible local businesses that make Omaha an amazing place to live. They’ll offer awards and inductions into Omaha’s Business Hall of Fame, which is a permanent exhibit in the Durham Museum. In addition to the awards, there will be hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and a dessert reception.
Omaha’s Original Greek Festival – August 21st – 23rd
Omaha’s Greek community puts on an annual Greek festival! It’s a totally immersive and fun cultural experience that Omaha enjoys each year. You can expect Greek food, pastries, drinks, dancing, vendors, music, and more! The event is hosted at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, and it’s one day only. So, mark your calendars, and come on down to grab a frappé and dance the sirtaki! Opa!
Nebraska Renaissance Faire & Midlands Pirate Festival – August 23rd – 24th
Huzzah and welcome to the longest running weekend Renaissance festival in Nebraska, established in 2003 in Ashland, and formerly held at Bellevue Berry Farm and River City Star Landing. Bring your friends and family out for two festivals in one – an edutainment celebration of 16th Century Europe and 18th Century Caribbean buccaneers.
Omaha Fashion Week’s Fall Showcase – August 20th – 24th
Omaha’s fashion week is one of the biggest in the country! It showcases new talent in the fashion world and fosters a positive outlet for creative growth. Omaha Fashion Week is an unforgettable fashion show experience that you can enjoy with over 10,000 other guests and designers. It’s one of Omaha’s most extravagant local encounters!
Midwest Pirate Fest – August 23rd – 24th
The Midwest Pirate Fest is a roleplaying event that takes place each year at Bellevue Berry & Pumpkin Ranch. It’s a ton of fun with interactive pirate play, prizes, daily treasure hunts, live entertainment, scavenger hunts, kid-friendly activities, costumed characters, themed games, and tons of live entertainment. Come in your best pirate garb and enjoy the immersive experience that is the Midwest Pirate Fest.
LaFesta Italiana – August 29th – 31st
The American Italian Heritage Society hosts an annual Italian cultural festival. Guests can look forward to authentic Italian food, drinks, activities, and entertainment! Food is really the star of the show. So, if you’re in the mood for cannoli, meatballs, or gelato, come on down to La Festa Italiana at The Palazzo (132nd & Fort St).
Midwest Foxfest 2025 – August 30th
Pint Nine Brewing Company in Papillion hosts an annual car show that features hundreds vehicles! Open to anyone! Tell your friends to bring their hot rods! We had fun with the mix of cars out there last year!
